AF system of a digital camera has two systems, a “contrast detection system” or a “phase difference detection method”, in use.
The compact digital camera and camera with interchangeable lenses which do not carry the finder have a “contrast detection system” in use with higher accuracy of focus 合わせ.
On the other hand, as for the digital single lens reflex camera, many quick “phase difference detection methods” of focus 合わせ is adopted.
The newly developed hybrid CMOS AF is including the pixel for phase difference AF in an image pick-up side (CMOS sensor), and realizes improvement in the speed of the autofocus in live view photography or animation photography.
A lens is made to drive quickly to near the focus by phase difference AF excellent also in position prediction, and the last unites a focus with high precision by contrast AF.
